Whitney Center for the Arts – W 203B
Tuesday 05/14 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: Stop waiting on your order from Ryan King and make a money clip yourself! Join Ryan for the day stamping, edging, stitching, and swapping stories. Make 2 money clips (patterns and clips provided) using the basket stamp design of your choice. There will be sewing machines on hand to make the process go faster. They’ve let him out of the basement at King’s for this, so make the most of it!
Materials to bring: Tooling stone, swivel knife, strop, edge beveler, wing dividers, basket stamps, border stamps, and a maul/mallet. Ryan will have tools available to borrow as well.
Workshop Instructor: Ryan King, born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, has been doing leather work on and off for a little over twenty years at the family business, King’s Saddlery, where Ryan is best known for his wallets. Ryan credits any success in his work to his father, for letting him have a creative use of his mind at work, and to his older brother, Barry, for the hard-to-swallow feedback, and, of course, quality leather tools. He also credits his mother, for constantly harassing him to complete orders.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co., The Fiebing Co., Leather Machine Co., LLC, and Tandy Leather
