Workshop Description: Embossing in the extreme brings leather art to a distinctive level. This process pushes the limits of leather crafting. Come to class with steady hands, as the leather will be cut to create the three dimensional effect that brings the elk to life. Cutting, stuffing, shaping, tooling in the fine details, painting, all come into play in creating this 11 x 14 inch picture, which will be ready to frame at the end of the two day class.

Materials to bring: Tooling surface, mallet, swivel knife, strop, stylus, modeling spoon, ball modeler, round marble, smooth and checkered bevellers – various sizes, smooth and checkered matting tools, smooth pear shaders – various sizes, F902, F941, pallet knife, texture tool for background, scalpel with #11 blade (no craft knives), and round paint brushes sizes 0-6.

Workshop Instructor: When she was very young, Kathy started her leathercraft career as a 4-H project, not knowing what it would lead to many years later. She has become the recipient of prestigious awards, such as the coveted Al Stohlman Award and Master Leather Artisan of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists. Figure carving has become her primary focus, and she is determined to share everything she has learned.

Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co. and Renia USA.
