Workshop Description: Get down to the basics with fun foundational drawing exercises that are guaranteed to challenge all skill levels. Often overlooked and disregarded for more exciting pursuits, a strong foundation is only achieved through dedicated practice. Learn how to deconstruct complex scroll designs and easily spot and correct problem areas. Improve your technique by training your muscles and brain to work together more efficiently. Spend less time with greater results when you learn to practice with purpose. The majority of class will focus on drawing, but be sure to bring your swivel knife and be ready to practice the same techniques on leather as well!
Materials to bring: Drawing paper, pencils, and a swivel knife. (Pen, straight edge, and compass are optional.)
Workshop Instructor: Sarah Garvey is a full-time leather artist specializing in intricately tooled purses and accessories. A single mom of two, she has been designing and creating under her brand, Western Skies Handmade, since 2008. With a background as a classically trained musician, Sarah’s distinct style elevates traditional craft with a fresh blend of classical and modern designs.
