Sarah Garvey
Rozet – Lokaal 3.03
Thursday 24. October 09.00 – 17.00
Intermediate
Workshop Description: Spend a day immersed in graceful scrolls. With a refreshingly non-traditional approach, you will learn how to deconstruct designs, expand your repertoire, improve flow, draft useable patterns and constructively critique your own work. With a focus on overall layout as well as perfecting each line, this course is perfect for leather workers who have a confident understanding of the tools and process involved and are ready to take their artistry to the next level. The majority of the class will focus on drawing, however, students are encouraged to bring their own tools to test their designs.
Materials to bring: Notebook, drawing paper, pencils and eraser, straight edge, optional drawing tools (compass, French curve, etc…), pattern transfer paper (optional), pen, personal leather stamping/carving tools, maul, and a tooling stone.
Workshop Instructor: Sarah Garvey is a full-time leather artist specializing in intricately tooled purses and accessories. A single mom of two, she has been designing and creating under her brand, Western Skies Handmade, since 2008. With a background as a classically trained musician, Sarah’s distinct style elevates traditional craft with a fresh blend of classical and modern designs.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co.
