Workshop Description: Make your FIRST leather project! Never made anything in leather because you do not know where to start? In this workshop for absolute beginners, you will discover the very basic steps of leatherwork by making a classic minimal wallet. These steps include: how to set a stamp (to personalize your wallet!), how to treat the edges for a smooth finish, how to stitch “the proper way” with 2 needles, how to condition your leather to make it last for a long, long time, and a load of general information about leather and leathercraft as we go! This workshop will set you up for your leathercrafting voyage. It all starts here, but where you’ll take it is up to you! (Workshop for 14 years and older.)
Materials to bring: A headlamp is strongly suggested, magnifier if your vision up close is not too good, pen and paper to take notes. Tandy provides all necessary tools and materials to make the wallet.
Workshop Instructor: Lien trained as a classical saddler at the Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre in Jerez de la Frontera, and speaks fluent Dutch, French, English, and Spanish. As the manager of the Tandy Leather store in Spain, she has 14 years of experience in guiding customers with their first steps into the world of leather craft, as well as helping them to perfect their skills and technique as they grow.
