All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: Welcome to the world of bags! This class covers a variety of important construction techniques you need to build all sorts of bags. We will be using sewing machines as well as hand stitching. We will explore three different edge binding variations and how to combine different types of leather and fabric. Closure mechanisms, like buckles, snaps, magnets, and more will be discussed and demonstrated as well as straps, handles, and zippers to complete the package. By the end of this class, you will not only hold your very own project bag, but leave with all techniques necessary to build any bag you like in the future. P.S. If you are interested in additional techniques to decorate your leatherwork, register for Viking Tooling, where you will tool your own Viking pattern onto a patch that will fit the flap of this bag perfectly.
Materials to bring: Stitching awl, needles, geometry triangle ruler, scissors, leather knife, skiving knife, cutting mat, pricking irons (2&4 teeth), and a mallet.
