Gabor Pinter
Rozet – Lokaal 4.15
Thursday 22.10. 09.00 – 17.00
All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: One of Gabor’s most popular patterns of the last decade is the Pocket Pony keychain figure. Gabor would like to teach you how to make them really shine, using the most premium materials available on the market, such as high quality, synthetic crystals and all sorts of exotic leathers. To fit the project in a single day workshop, he will precut and line the template for you, but explain that process as well in detail. This will also allow time for each student to make and take home several ponies – all made of different veg tan and exotic materials – along with a brochure that shows and explains the whole workflow!
Materials to bring: Small cutting board, utility knife, small anvil/stamping rock (just big enough to set a small rivet), small-headed metal hammer, small sponge, 2 leather sewing needles, and a small chunk of beeswax. This is a tiny project, so everything can be really small. (Do not worry if you do not have some of these; Gabor will have one set of everything with him, and there will be time to share).
Workshop Instructor: Gabor Pinter is a leather artist and graphic designer. He started leatherwork in his father’s saddle shop in Hungary, where leather carving knowledge was hard to come by, until he got Al Stohlman’s Figure Carving booklet as a Christmas present. Educating himself from books and later from social media groups, he finds it extremely important to try and pass on his knowledge to the younger generations. Gabor is the author of the Sheridan Style Floral Drawing series. Gabor speaks English and Hungarian.
