Workshop Description: Dive into an advanced workshop designed for seasoned leatherworkers. You may register for just Part 1, just Part 2, or both. This intensive two-part course focuses on Steve’s techniques of creating optical depth without the need for deep tooling. This unique approach not only conserves creativity but also opens a realm of artistic possibilities.
Key skills and techniques: Attendees should expect to learn Steve’s approach to creating designs and the tooling process. To get the most out of this course, it will be important to remain open to new ideas and be prepared for candid discussion. Expect to learn design strategies to enhance aesthetic appeal of leather projects and techniques to achieve optical depth without excessive tooling.
Target audience: This course is tailored fit intermediate leather workers who are looking to elevate their craft to new heights. Participants should have a solid foundation in basic leatherworking techniques and principles.
Day 2: Discussion of tooling approach, and tooling. We will focus on the practical application of the discussed principles. This includes a detailed exploration of non-traditional tooling techniques that create depth and dimension in leather without deep cuts or carvings.
Course Outcomes: By the end of this course, participants will not only refine their tooling techniques but also learn how to enhance their work with a sense of elegance and grace. They will gain the ability to design and execute leatherwork that stands out for its artistic sophistication and refined beauty.

Materials to bring: Favorite leather carving tools, tooling stone, swivel knife, strop, and a maul/mallet (for Day 2).

Workshop Instructor: Steve is a seasoned leather worker with over 20 years of experience creating a diverse assortment of projects, with an intense focus on carving leather.
