All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: Take your inlay work to the next level! In this class, we will discuss the basics of inlay work and then dive into the more complex techniques with our project piece. We will cut and tool multiple layers of decorative filler and then cover it with leather to create a beautiful, framed patch. This is a great skill to learn that makes your tooled pieces more interesting and individualizes them. Traditionally used on medieval sword scabbards, you can incorporate your inlay work in various projects like belts, bags, saddles, wallets, knife sheaths, and all sorts of decorative items.
Materials to bring: Pointy scalpel or steep angle X-Acto knife, v groove, modeling tools (small ball and spoon), hammer, mallet, bone folder, skiving knife, sand paper, edger size 2, checkered beveler (medium size), cutting mat, and metal dividers.
