Workshop Description: Are you ready to take your Silhouette Carving to the next level? In this workshop, Sheryl will teach you how to create silhouettes that go beyond what you can imagine. She will take you through the carving steps and teach you how to make clean and smooth shadow spaces. She will then introduce you to a new coloring medium, acrylic inks. Inks can really make your carvings pop with very vibrant colors. Please join Sheryl for this very fun and interactive workshop.

Materials to bring: Pen or stylus, swivel knife, strop, modeling spoon, assorted bevelers, assorted background tools, maul or mallet, tooling stone, and small and medium round paint brushes.

Workshop Instructor: Sheryl’s interest in leathercraft started 1997 when she found a set of tools at a flea market. Those tools propelled her on a journey in leather she could not have imagined. Over the last 25 years, she has had the privilege to study and learn different tooling techniques from several of the masters.
In 2001, she began braiding leather, learning from the masters of the craft in both kangaroo and rawhide, and becoming skilled in round braiding, inlay/overlay braids, fine edge braiding and knot work.
In 2005, Sheryl started teaching tooling and braiding classes in Sheridan, Wyoming, at the Rocky Mountain Leather Trade Show for both youth and adult students.
In 2007, she and her husband started a 4-H club, the Cascade Leather Artisans. Several Ann Stohlman winners have come from this club. She has also been published in the Leather Crafter’s Journal.
Her work has won numerous first place, best of show and judges’ choice awards at county fairs, and first and second place ribbons in the World Leather Debut. Other placings include first place, best in category, best in class, and best of division at the International Federation of Leather Guilds Convention.

Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co. and The Fiebing Co.
