Workshop Description: There is a beauty and a spirit in the deserts of the southwest that look amazing when captured in leather. Join Jim Linnell in this workshop and he will show you the leather carving techniques he uses to capture these images. In addition to the different cactus and foliage, the terrain of this part of our country echoes with mystery. While learning how to capture The Spirit of the Desert Southwest in a pictorial carving, student will learn pictorial carving skills that will help them get more depth and detail out of all their leather carving. Once the carving is done, students will be ready to join Annie Libertini in her workshop on Saturday (“Pictorial Carving: Spirit of the Desert Southwest – Coloring”), where they will learn to add vibrance and even more depth with the use of color.
