Workshop Description: Take a critical and constructive look at your leather carving in this adaptation of a traditional music masterclass. As an artist, learning to be critical of your work is just as important as learning how to receive constructive criticism from others. Students will each receive 10 minutes of one-on-one time with me in front of the class, sharing a prepared piece of your choosing. During that time, I will share my constructive feedback and answer students” questions. Every presentation will provide an impromptu and sometimes unexpected lesson for more than just the person in the spotlight. Learn how to effectively practice the art of self criticism and how to humbly open yourself to other’s input so you can grow as an artist.
Materials to bring: Example(s) of your work to share. Finished pieces are encouraged, but unfinished examples can accompany if students wish to focus on a specific step.
Workshop Instructor: Sarah Garvey is a full-time leather artist specializing in intricately tooled purses and accessories.
