Workshop Description: In this two-hour hands-on class, we’ll focus on creating clean, precise leather inlay and the skiving techniques needed to achieve a professional finish. Using provided scalpels or a skiving knife of your choice, you’ll learn how to skive delicate leather with precision, control thickness, bring multiple layers together seamlessly, and create smooth edges for a clean, professional result. Each student will have the opportunity to create a small demo piece using the techniques demonstrated in class. You’ll leave with a finished sample to reference when incorporating leather inlay into your own projects. {Leandra will be using COBRA Class 20 and 26 sewing machines; if you are interested in purchasing COBRA equipment at the show, call Leather Machine Company by February 1 to pre-order at +1 (866) 962-9880. Deposit required.}
Materials to bring: Small skiving knife (optional), glass or granite skiving surface, pencil or silver pen, cutting mat, pen, and notebook.
