Workshop Description: Learn the techniques needed to create this distinctive knotted leather bag from start to finish. This class combines leather construction with practical sewing techniques for bag making. Students will learn how to accurately prepare and assemble leather panels, sew clean and consistent seams, manage multiple layers and curves, and achieve professional-looking seam transitions. We’ll also cover constructing and installing a liner, including techniques for creating a clean, well-fitting finished interior. The bag is finished with optional decorative studs that add a unique detail to the design. This is a great class for expanding your leather bag-making and sewing skills while creating a fun, functional design that is also popular with customers at markets. {Leandra will be using COBRA Class 20 and 26 sewing machines, a burnisher, and NP-4 bell knife skiver; if you are interested in purchasing COBRA equipment at the show, call Leather Machine Company by February 1 to pre-order at +1 (866) 962-9880. Deposit required.}
Materials to bring: Notebook, pencil, sharpie, silver pen, scissors, rotary cutter, small edger, wing dividers, small cutting mat, ¾” binder clips, and clear quilter’s ruler (4” x 12” is a great size, but bring whatever you have handy).
