Workshop Description: This workshop is geared towards taking some of the mystery and confusion out of drawing your own designs. The focus will be on using basic rules, options to those rules, layout, flow, and proportion to fit your space. Each student will work within their personal project (purse, belt, saddle part, etc) to draw a pattern that will be reviewed for growth and improvement. Optionally, you can carve in the afternoon to apply your new knowledge to leather. Come prepared to learn and share!
Materials to bring: For Drawing Only: Sketch paper, tracing paper, pencils, erasers, circle templates, rulers, and personal drawing aids. For Drawing and Tooling: Stamps, swivel knife, marble, mallet, personal stamping tools. Scrap leather provided.
Workshop Instructor: Nancy Martiny is a 35 year saddle maker and 50 year leather carver. She has learned, and continues to study, with the best to improve her work and help others. She works from her home ranch studio in Idaho.
