Workshop Description: Using a swivel knife to decorative cut your tooling can add flow and depth to your work. It can make a flat piece of leather seem to come to life and take on another dimension. Unfortunately, it can also make it look like you let a cat use your project as a scratching post. I’m more of a dog person myself, but when I started tooling, it looked like I had a herd of cats! Decorative cuts can become the signature of a tooler. People can develop their own style that is recognized by other toolers. This is possible because there is no one right way to do decorative cuts. However, there are some basic fundamentals that are common to make decorative cuts that are appealing to the eye. Bring your swivel knife and get ready to take a deep dive into decorative cuts. Learn to be intentional with your knife, have a goal for your cuts, and build the skills necessary to achieve the professional look you are after in your tooling.

Materials to bring: A swivel knife and strop.
