Workshop Description: Beveling is one of the most important skills in leather tooling, and small improvements can make a huge difference in the finished look of your work. In this class, we’ll focus on how to bevel faster, smoother, and with more consistency while creating better depth and dimension in your tooling. We’ll cover proper tool control, creating depth, fading out bevel lines, increasing speed without sacrificing quality, and avoiding the uneven or choppy look that can hold your tooling back. Whether you’re a beginner building good habits from the start or an experienced leatherworker looking to fine-tune your technique, this class will help you develop cleaner, more professional-looking beveling.

Materials to bring: Tooling stone, mallet, water spray bottle or sponge and dish, notebook, pen/pencil, bevels, and headlamp if desired. For bevels, bring what you have; Joe will have some you can try if needed. He prefers checkered bevels with a crisp impression.

Workshop Instructor: Joe owns and operates 23+ in Pendleton, OR. He has been tooling leather since 2005. Through his YouTube channel, online courses, and in person classes, Joe specializes in helping beginning leather toolers. The ah-ha moments that students have, continues to fuel his drive to simplify the learning process.

Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co.
