Workshop Description: Carve and decorate a coaster with a chrysanthemum motif, using layers of watercolor paint to achieve a realist effect. Some experience of carving needed.
Materials to bring: Notebook, pen/pencil, swivel knife, small beveler (e.g. B200/B203/B935), camera or mobile phone, palette/plate/saucer for mixing paint, water holder (e.g. clean yogurt container, 2B pencil, HB or 2H pencil, small tooling stone, mallet, and an edge creaser. Optional: paper towel or cloth and an apron.
Workshop Instructor: Lorna has been an artist/maker since she was a teenager. She studied art, followed by a BA Degree in Textiles. Originally working as a freelance fabric designer, Lorna then ran her own decorating business painting murals, upcycling and painting furniture (as well gilding and restoration), and has taught at local colleges and instructed evening classes. Following that, Lorna worked as an Interior Designer. Her hobbies include dress making, clay sculpture, embroidery, spinning, weaving and leatherwork. She has been a participant in ELWATS ever since 2019 and has enjoyed learning new skills and techniques.
CANCELLATION POLICY
• There is a $25 administration fee for canceling a workshop.
• The cost of each workshop will be refunded minus the $25 fee.
• No refunds for workshops after Friday, 9 October, 2026.
