Workshop Description: In this class we will be building a trendy, open-flat leather cosmetic bag complete with zipper and liner. The construction of this bag focuses on skill building with zipper, fabric liner, and gusset installation. We will discuss leather options for giving this bag structure without excess bulk, fabric options for the liner that easily wipe clean, and other materials for bag construction that will help your understanding in bag making and design. You will go home with a complete cosmetic bag and pattern to make future products for your customers. {You’ll be using COBRA Class 26 sewing machines (with work platforms); if you are interested in purchasing COBRA equipment at the show, call Leather Machine Company by February 1 to pre-order at +1 (866) 962-9880. Deposit required.}
Materials to bring: Notebook, pencil, Sharpie, scissors, rotary cutter, small cutting mat, and clear quilter’s ruler (4” x 12” is a great size, but being whatever you have handy).
Workshop Instructor: Leandra Martin is an Idaho native, working in the leather industry full time for the last seven years. Leandra specializes in high end purse design and construction with a western flare. She has designed many of her own patterns and enjoys the process of designing and construction. She has recently began teaching classes to share her techniques with others in the industry.
