Workshop Description: Do you ever wake up with a vivid vision of the perfect handbag—its shape, its structure, its details—only to realize you have no idea how to actually bring it to life? In this foundational handbag-making class, Noa will teach you the core principles of drafting a handbag pattern completely from scratch. Together, you’ll break down the anatomy of a handbag step-by-step, explore how each panel and seam works together, and draft and refine your own basic patterns using a ruler, awl, and knife. You’ll build essential finishing skills—turning edges, working with interfacings, and handling chrome-tanned leather. And, because this course is led by the Exotics Queen herself, you’ll also get an introduction to exotic leathers and learn best practices for laying out patterns on exotic leather. We’ll end with time for individual bag and pattern questions. By the close of class, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of bag structure and the confidence to create the handbags you’ve always imagined.
Materials to bring: Knife, awl, ruler (12″ or more), bone folder, cutting board, pen/pencil, and notebook.
