Workshop Description: Show up in style to your next leather show with a custom lanyard to hold your badges, name tags, keys, etc. In this workshop, you will stamp out 2 custom lanyards that are braided together and geo or basket stamped. The lanyard is 3/4″ wide, so the focus will be on using small tools and delicate work, making for a classy looking lanyard to last a lifetime! {You’ll be using a COBRA Class 18 sewing machine; if you are interested in purchasing COBRA equipment at the show, call Leather Machine Company by May 1 to pre-order at +1 (866) 962-9880. Deposit required.}
Materials to bring: Small geo or basket stamps, leather awl, lace pull, maul, swivel knife, strop, glass or wood caser, weight bag, stamping rock, pressurized mister bottle, #0 hole punch, #6 pricking wheel, and a positive attitude! (Tools will be available to share if you don’t have everything on the list.)
Workshop Instructor: Ryan King, born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, has been doing leather work on and off for a little over twenty years at the family business, King’s Saddlery, where Ryan is best known for his wallets. Ryan credits any success in his work to his father, for letting him have a creative use of his mind at work, and to his older brother, Barry, for the hard-to-swallow feedback, and, of course, quality leather tools. He also credits his mother, for constantly harassing him to complete orders.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co., The Fiebing Company, Leather Machine Co., LLC, Silver Creek Leather, Weaver Leather, and Barry King Tools
