Workshop Description: This workshop will offer figure carving, geometric stamping, floral carving, and inverted/silhouette carving. This is not a beginner’s workshop; attendees must have about 2 years of leathercrafting experience and be (approx.) 10 – 17 years old. It is a workshop designed to go beyond the bare basics and level-up your skills as a teenager. The class will be organized by Kay Orton and taught (mostly) by Ann Stohlman Award winners!

Materials to bring: Bring at least the 7 basic tools, a mallet, and a tooling stone.

Workshop Instructor: Kay Orton’s passion is helping young people learn and enjoy leathercraft. She has been teaching 4-H leathercraft for the past 50 years and has organized a youth leathercraft workshop and leader training each February in Grand Junction, CO. for the past 27 years. In 2004 she joined the Colorado Saddle Makers Association, and as the business manager, helps organize about three seminars each year to help attendees learn saddle making. She received the Al Stohlman award in 2012.

Workshop Sponsors: Silver Creek Leather Co.
