Workshop Description: Vector drawings & patterns…the next step in the evolution of leathercraft! Vector-based applications (i.e.. Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape, Affinity, etc…) can be very confusing and intimidating to some. This is where Dave Skinner can help take the mystery away. As a graphic designer, Dave has been using vector drawing programs for the last 35 years to create simple line drawings…all the way up to branding and marketing campaigns. Now, he uses these tools to create carving layouts, project templates, maker stamps, logo designs, marketing material, and so much more. After a few hours with Dave, you too will be well on your way from pencil to PC.
Materials to bring: This workshop is a demonstration; if you have a vector drawing application installed on your laptop, feel free to bring it along. Note taking materials (notebook, pencil/pen, laptop, tablet, mobile phone, etc.). Video recording during the class is permitted, but MUST NOT be shared.
Workshop Instructor: David Skinner is a Canadian leather artist and graphic designer located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was introduced to the leather world via an introduction to leather carving course in Nov. 2014 and has been chasing leather related knowledge ever since. Through his business, Skinner Leather, he is now blending his 30 years of experience as a graphic designer with his passion for leatherwork and carving. You can see samples of Dave’s work at facebook.com/skinnerleather. Dave will present this workshop in English.
