Prescott Resort – Bradshaw Room
Thursday 02/25 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: Learn how to draw and tool realistic flowers from all angles. Practice breaking them down into their most basic forms and filling in details for as much realism as you like. Learn how to make them more natural with folds and overlapping and how to incorporate them into your scrollwork. Time in class will be spent drawing and then transferring those sketches to leather. Experiment with various tooling techniques to further expand your repertoire.
Materials to bring: Sketchbook, pencil/eraser, stone, maul, weight, water sprayer, swivel knife, stamping tools (specifically, thumbprints, pear shaders, bevelers, seeders, flower centers, and any other relevant stamps)
Workshop Instructor: Sarah Garvey is a full-time leather artist specializing in intricately tooled purses and accessories. A single mom of two, she has been designing and creating under her brand, Western Skies Handmade, since 2008. With a background as a classically trained musician, Sarah’s distinct style elevates traditional craft with a fresh blend of classical and modern designs.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co.
