Workshop Description: The tiger has always been an awe-inspiring subject for Kathy. The chosen image for this class brings the power through to the leather. Many techniques are used to create this tiger picture: embossing, scalpel work, fine detail, and fur are all a part of the learning process. These are techniques which can be used over and over in any leather art. Prepare for an intense two days and walk out with your own leather creation. The picture is 11 inches by 14 inches.
Materials to bring: Tooling surface, mallet, stylus, modeling spoon, swivel knife, bevelers (smooth and checkered), matting tools (smooth and checkered), pear shaders (large, smooth), figure beveler F895, undercut beveler (medium), scalpel with #11 blades, paint brushes (round # 2, 4, 6, and a long liner brush, 5/0), and a pallet knife.
Workshop Instructor: When she was very young, Kathy started her leathercraft career as a 4-H project, not knowing what it would lead to many years later. She has become the recipient of prestigious awards, such as the coveted Al Stohlman Award and Master Leather Artisan of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists. Figure carving has become her primary focus, and she is determined to share everything she has learned.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co. and Renia GmbH
