Workshop Description: Join me for a one-day 3D leather workshop where we’ll create a covered bridge over a dry riverbed – entirely from leather. We’ll explore techniques for shaping and texturing leather to form rocks, grass, wood, and structural elements, bringing depth and realism to the piece. This workshop is open to all skill levels, whether you’re looking to refine your skills or try something new. Expect a relaxed, hands-on environment with plenty of room for creativity and problem-solving.
Materials to bring: Hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, Super Glue (recommend Starbond Superfast Thin), Insta-set (recommend Bob Smith Industries), modeling tools, swivel knife, small sifter (like you use for sifting flour), hair dryer, tweezers, small fan recommended but not necessary, and edge bevel (size 2 preferred, but most sizes will work). A magnifier, headlamp, etc. are optional.
Workshop Instructor: As a lifelong artist, Daniel Reach has dabbled in just about everything, but the two niches that have inspired his creative side more than any others are leatherworking and airbrushing. In his early 20s, he apprenticed under one of the top 10 airbrush artists in the world. During that time, he taught dozens of classes and showed hundreds of students how to airbrush. As a leather artist, Daniel is a Master Leather Craftsman, and a multi-award winning artist who teaches on two YouTube channels, including Weaver Leather Supply and The LeatherVerse.
Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co., The Fiebing Co., Renia USA, and Weaver Leather
