Contest purpose:

This contest is intended to replicate a real-world scenario where we, as craftsmen and craftswomen, don’t always have an abundant amount of time to plan out and create a perfect project. This project must be completed between the announcement date and the due date. This year, we are not assigning an entire project, which would force everyone to create the same project. However, there are guidelines and rules that the project must adhere to to be a valid entry.

Contest Rules:

Item: Ladies' Wallet or Clutch

  1. The item must have a closure (zipper, snap, Loop, anything that holds it closed)

  2. The item must have at least 6 individual card pockets

  3. The item cannot exceed 8” in any direction when closed

Contest Details:

1. Artists must preregister online with the Leather Crafter’s Journal by Thursday, July 31st

2. Judging will take place on Wednesday, August 6th

3. The projects will be displayed during the trade show on Friday, August 8th, and Saturday, August 9th

4. The projects must be turned in to the box office at the Waco Convention Center or received at Maker’s Leather Supply by 4 pm on Wednesday, August 6th

Categories:

Beginner categories are for leatherworkers with 1 year of experience or less in the craft

Youth category is for our crafters aged 15 years and younger

Advanced categories are for everyone who does not fit into the prior two categories
