Leandra Martin
Whitney Center for the Arts – W 234
Saturday 05/17 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
All skill levels welcome!
Workshop Description: In this class you will be learning about leather inlay and how to get the best results. We will focus a lot of our attention on the necessity of skiving and we will spend a lot of time doing it! Leandra will show you how to get that nice, “puffy” look and how to operate the roller foot sewing machine. Since a good deal of Leandra’s inlay work involves adding clients’ initials to a custom leather piece, we will focus on lettering in this workshop. Each student will be given materials to practice with. {You’ll be using a COBRA Class 5550 and COBRA Class 26 sewing machine (with work platform); if you are interested in purchasing COBRA equipment at the show, call Leather Machine Company by February 1 to pre-order at +1 (866) 962-9880. Deposit required.}
Materials to bring: Cutting surface, a marble/tempered glass skiving surface, and note taking materials. Knives will be supplied, however you may bring your own skiving knife if you’d prefer.
