Workshop Description: If you’re struggling with your drawing, the flow and balance, if you want to save time while maintaining high-level quality tooling on your projects, this class is for you. You will learn a method using multiple primary circles that makes your layout easier, giving you harmony and balance while preserving the flow. Yves (pronounced “eve”) will use a fender pattern as an example. You will learn how to draw a layout with multiple options. From just a corner to a fully drawn piece, you will be able to add or remove in one second some parts of the layout to have either a partial, half, or fully tooled carved project.

Materials to bring: Notebook, pencil, pen, eraser, and colored pencils.

Workshop Instructor: Yves Lesire started as a self-taught leathercrafter during the first 25 years of his career, working with leather while in the French Navy, and later as a waiter on cruise ships. He began making western saddles after attending Fred Harsant’s school. He is now a full-time western saddle maker and teacher. Yves is a founding member and a former president of the European Cowboy Gear Maker and Artist Association. He regularly teaches leatherworking and carving classes at his workshop in Villeveyrac, France.
