Workshop Description: In this workshop, I’ll be demonstrating techniques for creating the illusion of age on a 3D leather project, drawing from the same methods used in my award-winning pieces The Homestead and The Lazarus (pirate ship). We’ll explore a range of aging techniques, including wet and dry applications, as well as 3D texturing, to add depth, character, and a sense of history to your work. These methods are adaptable to various types of leather projects, from scenic compositions to traditional carving. Whether you’re looking to create a timeworn patina or dramatic weathering effects, this session will give you the tools to bring authentic aging to your leatherwork.

Materials to bring: Pen, paper, and snacks.

Workshop Instructor: As a lifelong artist, Daniel Reach has dabbled in just about everything, but the two niches that have inspired his creative side more than any others are leatherworking and airbrushing. In his early 20s, he apprenticed under one of the top 10 airbrush artists in the world. During that time, he taught dozens of classes and showed hundreds of students how to airbrush. As a leather artist, Daniel is a Master Leather Craftsman, and a multi-award winning artist who teaches on two YouTube channels, including Weaver Leather Supply and The LeatherVerse.
