Workshop Description: Learn a variety of different hand stitching techniques and find out new tips and tricks to add to the ones you learned in the past. We‘ll discuss and try out box and butt joint stitching, the traditional version of the two-needle saddler’s stitch, decorative braid stitches and more. On top of that, you will get a lot of information about different awls, thread and needle types, and knots. Learn techniques that will allow you to bring your leathercrafting ideas to life.
Materials to bring: Notebook, pencil, stitching awl with sword blade, round awl, divider, pricking irons, mallet, cutting board for the pricking irons, and a stitching pony/clamp. There will be stitching ponies/clamps to borrow, but you might prefer your own.
Workshop Instructor: Lea Wagner found her passion in leather craft early in life during her university studies in Germany and decided to follow her dream of becoming a full time leather crafter. After three years of apprenticeship at a workshop and attending a professional saddlery school, she started to create leather art and specializes in fantasy and historical costumes and custom-designed items for movie and theatre.
