Workshop Description: Enjoy the freedom of drawing your own flowers. In this workshop, you will learn simple guidelines to help you draw balanced flowers. You don’t have to be super artistic if you follow a framework. Then, we will move to tooling and work on some practical ways to make your flowers stand out. Make your flower centers stand out and bring petals to life with small adjustments to your shading and decorative cuts.
Materials to bring: Drawing pad, pencil, & eraser. Tooling stone, mallet/maul, stylus, swivel knife, spray bottle or sponge & water dish, tools for carving (checkered bevelers, vertical lined thumbprint, veiner, mules foot, flower center, backgrounder), and note taking materials. (Also bring a headlamp if desired.) If you don’t have the exact tools, that’s ok. I’d rather teach you to tool with what you have than you thinking you have to buy a bunch of stuff just for this class.
Workshop Instructor: Joe owns and operates 23+ in Pendleton, OR. He has been tooling leather since 2005. Through his YouTube channel, online courses, and in person classes, Joe specializes in helping beginning leather toolers. The ah-ha moments that students have, continues to fuel his drive to simplify the learning process.
