This workshop is focused on the application of stamping tools in a floral pattern using one of Don’s unique designs. Following along with Don, you’ll tool one section of a repeating pattern from start to finish on a practice piece of Hermann Oak leather, providing you with a good idea of what the pattern is and how it should look. You’ll then dye the stamped leather using Don’s most popular two-tone dye application process and finish it with a light oil antique. Don gets a lot of questions on his antique and finish techniques and this workshop will definitely deliver! Time permitting, Don will answer questions about construction. Each student will receive their own belt blank and liner (in addition to the practice piece) and a handout with further reference notes. This is the perfect complimentary workshop for Sickbald’s Belt Basics!

Materials to Bring: Swivel knife, strop, mallet/maul, stylus, spray bottle with water, standard floral carving tools (lifters, bevelers, thumbprints/pear shaders, backgrounders/matters, wing dividers, a sheet of tracing paper, stamping stone, and anything else you’d normally use to sit down and tool a belt with.
