Armin Dobstetter

Rozet – 3.07

Saturday 29.10 09.00 – 12.30

All skill levels welcome!

Workshop Description: Armin will show you how to make homemade tools, e.g. backgrounder or special bevelers for ‘lazy guys’, with the help of blanks, a grinding machine, checkering files, a Dremel tool and polishing wheel. This can actually become a way of creating your own personal style. These techniques are also useful to alter or refine factory-made tools. Using these methods, Armin has produced a number of unique prototypes that were later brought to perfection by professional tool makers like Bob Beard (see Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal Jan/Feb 2017, L-legs) and Barry King. Included in the fee is one tool that you will take home with you! This workshop can be taught in English and German.

Materials to bring: Notebook, pencil/pen, and a camera.

Workshop Instructor: Armin Dobstetter started leatherwork during his 14 years at a local reenactment American Indian Club. With his first Harley-Davidson in 1980, he started to create useful things for his bike, then for the bikes of friends. In 1990, he started his business and today he is one of best leather artists in Europe for seats, saddlebags and various motorcycle gear, working not only on leather with his own designs, but also creating base plates and doing the upholstery. Check out his website at www.customleather.de. Armin speaks German and English.
