Workshop Description: Grow Your Business with Tandy Leather is a symposium geared toward entrepreneurs who would like to better understand basic business principles to gain a better foothold in the consumer market for leather goods. Whether you are just starting out or have been in business for yourself already, this workshop is for those who need some help to get them to the next level to keep their leather business viable.
The symposium will consist of four 1-hour and 45 minute segments:
Pricing Your Goods and Services – Bob Brenner: One of the biggest hurdles leatherworkers face is pricing their goods and services profitably. One can be the best craftsman, but if one cannot make a living doing so, all their talent is for naught. This class will give you the knowledge to establish a profitable hourly rate and how to price your goods and services.
Brand and Logo Development – Axel Gaona and Ali Shira: A logo is one of the first experiences customers have with your leather business. Your branding and logo should tell the story of who you are and what you want to communicate to your customers. This class will review the basics of developing your brand style and logo. From font, color, and imagery, every visual aspect of your branding will create lasting recognition with your customers.
Stronger Content Marketing – Brandon Corral: The internet offers an endless number of opportunities to expose your products and services to new customers, however, how do you break through the clutter and beat out the competition? Brandon Corral will lead a discussion on how leatherworkers can create stronger content and help their products be seen higher in search rankings. There will be some prepared material, however, this class will strongly encourage Q&A to make sure that participants walk away with specific answers and insights relevant to their business.
Bringing Life to Content Creation for Your Art – Jennifer Anderson: In this class we will dicuss the importance of staying current on Instagram while creating content that will help you reach new audiences while strategically marketing your products. We will help you with creating a stratgey that is effective and targets people wihtout feeling the pressure to sell all the time.
Bonus: A drawing will be done at the close of the day to select a few lucky participants who will work with a Tandy Leather graphic artist to develop a company logo/brand. In addition, there will be a drawing for one participant to receive a logo/brand/maker’s stamp to be made by Steel Stamps, Inc. for free! Finally, all participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion and Tandy will reimburse the student fee to each student at a later date. This symposium is limited to 30 students.

Materials to bring: Note taking materials and access to your own social media sites (phone).
