Workshop Description: Join venerated Japanese artist, Akiko Okada, for two days of design composition and tooling/stamping that looks beautiful for a wallet or on the wall in your home! You will also receive Akiko’s paper pattern for the wallet, including card pockets, and a guide book on how to assemble it.

Materials to bring: Mallet/Maul, stamping stone, tracing pen, swivel knife, some wool pieces, piece of cloth, toothbrush, fine point brushes, hair dryer, strop, and the following stamping tools (bevelers: checkered #1 & #2; undershots/lifters: #0, #1, & #2; veiners: lined # 1 & scalloped #1; stop: smooth #2; leaf liner: #1; thumbprints: smooth #00, #0, & #1, and horizontal #00, #0, & #1, and vertical #0 & #1; flower centers: some #1 & #2 of your favorites; backgrounders: #23 or #25 [3, 5, 7 holes]; camouflage: lined#2 fluted if you have it; mule foot: #00, #1, #2, & #3; S628, S705, F922, and a modeler). Refer Barry King’s stamping tools catalog. If you have something similar to these tools, of course you can use them.

Workshop Instructor: Akiko has taught leathercraft for over 40 years and teaches children in the summer as a volunteer. She has built full size and 1/2 size saddles with Clint Fay in 2007 & 2008, and entered the World Leather Debut every year from 2005-2012, winning blue ribbons there seven times. She received the Al Stohlman Award for Achievement in Leathercraft in 2013, which encouraged her and reassured her to stay with leathercraft for life.

• There is a $25 administration fee for canceling a workshop.

• The cost of each workshop will be refunded minus the $25 fee.
