Product Description

In a hands-on class, students will learn and practice a variety of hand dyeing and finishing techniques with a special 4-part dye system exclusive to Orion Calf. Students will learn how each medium specifically works and interacts on a variety of leather types, including veg tanned and chrome tanned leathers. Common techniques such as patina, sponge, and brush dye work, as well as troubleshooting common errors will be covered. Students will be provided a variety of materials to experiment on and are free to take materials home for reference or to assemble and sell. Students do not need to bring any tools but should come prepared to practice.

Materials to bring: Note taking materials and a camera.

Katie Fiorito is a self taught artist with over 30 years’ experience working with various mediums and a forte in painting and color theory. In 2014 she had the opportunity to pursue her artistic passions as a full time focus. She transitioned into leather work and after several years of research and development has been able to successfully apply her skill set to a new medium. She currently resides in Bend, Oregon, with her partner, Mark, and her two dogs, Kodi and Bajie.
