Product Description

Summer is coming – it will be here before we know it!! You will walk out of this workshop wearing (or carrying, lol) a completed pair of flip flops made by YOU!! Serina will teach full construction of a pair of flip flops! You can then go home and make sandals this summer for your friends, family and customers! You will learn how to make a specific size and fit it to your customer. You will cut out all parts of the flip flops, glue, sand, stitch and dye them. We will discuss many aspects of construction, changing up the look of the foot strap and the toe strap, and ways to put designs and patterns on the top and bottom soles. We will discuss the type of leathers, dyes and finishes to use. All materials, including leather and dyes will be included in the cost of the workshop. The class size will be kept small so that Serina can provide individualized attention during the two days.

Materials to bring: Round knife, X-acto knife, metal square (extending at least 8” on each side), ruler, cutting mat, stamping stone, stylus, swivel knife, strop, mallet, bevelers, backgrounder, small and medium size edgers, small brush, Sharpie, apron, maker’s stamp, burnishing tools and dividers. If you have them, also bring a 3/8” hole punch, a 1″ oblong punch, and a cobbler’s hammer.

Serina Lee began playing with leather in 2009. She is self taught as there was no one in the area to learn from. In 2015 she attended her first trade show in Prescott, AZ (the Southwest Leather Workers Trade Show) and took every single workshop that time would allow for!! That show, the workshops, and instructors changed her whole leather life! “I no longer felt alone in the leather world and it is a great feeling!” Serina continues to grow and learn by taking workshops when she can. She also teaches workshops at her home, at the Southwest Leather Workers Trade Show and at the Rocky Mountain Leather Trade Show. Serina lives on her small farm/ranch with her husband of nearly 35 years, their horses, dogs, chickens, and a cat!
