Workshop Description: If you are interested in the art of hand engraving and what all is involved, this session is for you. Diane will demonstrate and explain the tools and their function to help students evaluate what might be important to get started and/or add to their bench. She will cover gravers, graver geometry, and proper sharpening, as well as demonstrate different styles of engraving and the gravers needed. Design, layout, and pattern transfer methods will also be covered, along with guidelines for materials used in the fabrication of pieces to be engraved. Diane will also share bench tricks and tips including holding fixtures, specialty gravers and tools, pre- and post-engraving steps, just to name a few.

Materials to bring: Note taking materials.

Workshop Instructor: Diane Scalese has been hand engraving for over 30 years. Beginning with silver engraving on the bits and spurs that she and her husband Bob built, Diane also began building and engraving saddle silver, belt buckles, and jewelry. In time, she began engraving firearms, knives, and watches. Diane is a Master Engraver in the Firearms Engravers Guild of America, a Colt Master Engraver with the Colt Collectors Association, and a 2018 inductee in the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Ft.
