Workshop Description: There is a great deal of mystery surrounding the use of an airbrush for leather, which airbrush to purchase, what dyes and paints can be used, what can an airbrush be used for, and how to properly use and maintain an airbrush. This workshop will deal with each of these issues, plus allow you to practice basic airbrush movements. You will learn how to create a coloring effect which some artists call a “sunburst”. Lastly, we will complete a leather project that utilizes the sunburst technique. Tuition for this workshop is a bit higher due to the fact that each student will be provided with a NEW Harder & Steenbeck Ultra airbrush (made by the German company, Harder & Steenbeck, value $90.00) to keep!

Materials to bring: As there will be several persons concurrently using airbrushes in the workshop, it is highly recommended that each student purchase a reusable filtration breathing device (available from Amazon for about $28.00). (Regular Kn95 masks and disposable gloves will be available; however, the filtration mask is recommended.) No additional tools are necessary.

Workshop Instructor: John Sedberry is retired from a career in the insurance business, having owned his own agency, and during which he did leather work off and on. In his retirement he has been able to realize a long-held desire to devote himself to his leather work. His studio/shop is located in the mountains of eastern San Diego County in California. John is a contributiong author to the Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal.

Workshop Sponsors: Hermann Oak Leather Co., The Fiebing Company, Spray Gunner, Tandy Leather, & Springfield Leather Co.
