A little rabbit, sleeping in the leaves, is immersed in a beautiful dream. Utilize embossing and dyeing techniques in leather to portray such a wonderful moment. In the two days during this workshop, we will learn how to use embossing to create realistic animal structure, hair details, and mixed Oriental culture dyeing techniques. Leather donated by Hermann Oak Leather Co.

Materials to Bring: Swivel knife, strop, mallet, checkered bevelers, backgrounders (checkered fine oval & checkered fine teardrop), thumbprints (horizontal), smooth pear shader, lifters, flower centers, center shaders, stylus, modeling knife and a stamping surface.

Honghao Cai

Honghao Cai is from Beijing, China, and studied at the Beijing University of Technology in the College of Art and Design. He works as a leather artist, specializing in figure carving and nature, carving realistic designs of his own and specializing in color application. His work has won blue ribbons at the World Leather Debut and his art was featured on the cover of the July/August 2017 issue of Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal.
