Skill Level: All Skill Levels Welcome!

You will learn how to make a completely finished bag, with no metal hardware, from start to finish. You’ll start by cutting the pieces from soft leather (the pattern is yours to keep) and stamp a design. Then, Deb will share her signature, unique sponge dyeing method with you. Final assembly will include buckstitching and an antler hook closure. You will leave with a finished bag to be proud of! Leather provided by American Elk & Deer.

Materials to Bring: Sharp scissors, utility knife, X-acto® knife, stylus, border stamping tools your choice, flower stamps (if you have them), # 7 and #5 hole punches, stamping surface, Poundo® board or similar, larger edgers, burnishing wheel or similar.

Deb Johns

Deb’s connection to leather started in the 1980s at an art show where the smell caught her imagination, and the work her fascination. She became hooked for life! For the past 35 years, she has dedicated her life to the craft, creating pieces ranging from elaborate gun holsters to massive carved paintings to modern art to furniture and more. Deb is entirely self taught through publications and the old school books by the masters. She lives in Jacksonville, Florida, with a houseful of animals and a backyard shop that has slowly and relentlessly spread into the house.
