Skill Level: All Skill Levels Welcome!

Learn how to stamp like a pro. The techniques are the same for beginners and advanced alike. This workshop will teach the skills you need to know to stamp in a successful leather shop. This is not a design or patterning workshop, rather how to interpret designs. This HANDS-ON workshop will cover the fundamental use of the multitude of stamping tools to achieve the look that you want. We will work on casing (tempering the leather) and maintaining moisture while stamping, identifying proper tools to use and their function, and how to properly stamp elements like acanthus, swirls, flowers, leaves, and stems. All of these elements are uses to make up most stamping designs. These techniques are not specific to Sheridan style, and will translate into other styles of stamping.

Leather donated by Hermann Oak Leather Co. and Barry King Tools.

Materials to Bring: Stamping tools, swivel knife, strop mallet/maul, stylus, stamping surface and a headlamp if you have one. Stamping tools can be available upon request. Lunch is included with the workshop to encourage open discussion.
